Increased Thermal Sensitivity of a Tropical Marine Gastropod Under Combined CO2 and Temperature Stress

چکیده
The ability of an organism to alter its physiology in response environmental conditions offers a short-term defense mechanism the face weather extremes resulting from climate change. These often manifest as multiple, interacting drivers, especially pH and temperature. In particular, decreased can impose constraints on biological mechanisms which define thermal limits by throwing off energetic equilibrium diminishing physiological functions (e.g., many marine ectotherms). For species, however, we do not have detailed understanding these interactive effects, acclimation responses. Here, investigated metabolic plasticity tropical subtidal gastropod ( Trochus maculatus ) increased levels CO 2 (700 ppm) heating (+3°C), measuring performance Q 10 coefficient) sensitivity [temperature maximum rate (T MMR ), upper lethal temperature (ULT)]. Individuals demonstrated stressors, with T increasing +4.1°C under higher temperatures, +2.7°C elevated , +4.4°C combined stressors. contrast, ULT only marginally (+0.3°C), but −2.3°C −8.7°C Therefore, although phenotypic is evident acclimation, acute seem be less flexible during acclimation.

Ocean Warming and CO2-Induced Acidification Impact the Lipid Content of a Marine Predatory Gastropod
Ocean warming and acidification are current global environmental challenges impacting aquatic organisms. A shift in conditions outside the optimal environmental range for marine species is likely to generate stress that could impact metabolic activity, with consequences for the biosynthesis of marine lipids. The aim of this study was to investigate differences in the lipid content of Dicathais ...
متن کاملA New Sensitivity Study of Thermal Stress Distribution for a Planar Solid Oxide Fuel Cell
Converting chemical energy into electricity is done by an electro-chemical device known as a fuel cell. Thermal stress is caused at high operating temperature between 700 oC to 1000 oC of SOFC. Thermal stress causes gas escape, structure variability, crack initiation, crack propagation, and cease operation of the SOFC before its lifetime. The aim of this study is to presen...
متن کاملShort-term effects of CO2, nutrients and temperature on three marine macroalgae under solar radiation
Three macroalgal species belonging to Chlorophyta (Ulva rigida), Rhodophyta (Ellisolandia elongata) and Phaeophyceae (Heterokontophyta; Cystoseira tamariscifolia), naturally growing at the same shore level and representing 3 morpho-functional groups, were exposed to short-term changes in temperature under different carbon and nitrogen regimes. Experiments were conducted in outdoor tanks at 4 co...
متن کاملNew Model for Visco-Elastic Behavior of Asphalt Mixture with Combined Effect of Stress and Temperature
The analysis of pavements and their ingredients has always been important due to a good understanding of their behavior under different conditions; that leads to more accurate relations. Due to the extent of asphalt mixture application in the world, the assessment of different behaviors of this mix is very important from various aspects of performance and safety. Given that the asphalt mixtures...
